Workshop on Energy and Water modelling: Round 2

In October and November 2019, the CIREG consortium organized a second round of training workshops on Energy and Water modelling in Accra (29 October – 1 November) and Ouagadougou (4 – 7 November), following up on the first round from March 2019. Both workshops were hosted by the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI).

Recent findings from the CIREG project on renewable power potential in West Africa will be presented at the International Climate and Energy Meteorology conference (ICEM2019) in Copenhagen, Denmark by Sebastian Sterl of the Free University of Brussels (VUB). He will present on Wednesday June 26 in the afternoon session on Grid Integration.

April 2019


The CIREG project’s latest results on renewable electricity potential will be presented at the European Geophysical Union 2019 in Vienna, Austria (April 8-12), by Sebastian Sterl of the Free University of Brussels (VUB). He will present on Monday April 8 in the session HS5.4.2 “Hydropower and other renewable energy sources: Integration and Planning amid the Water-Energy Nexus”.
